Kristin Eklund Haverkampf is a classically trained soprano and alumna of Oberlin Conservatory.

For more than 30 years, Ms. Haverkampf has been highly sought after as a soloist, chorister, adjudicator, and clinician. Among her many notable accomplishments, she spent over a decade as a member of the esteemed Chicago Symphony Chorus, often performing as a soloist with the Chicago Master Singers. Currently, she lends her talents to the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus while continuing to study vocal pedagogy and pursue her passions in opera, art song, sacred choral music, liturgical song, and musical theater.

In addition to her performance work, Ms. Haverkampf has been running a private studio for over 30 years. She has also taught at the David Adler Music and Arts Center as well as other local youth theater groups. Additionally, she is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

My Teaching Philosophy

Teaching students in Grayslake Illinois and surrounding communities

My pledge is to guide students to discover their unique, individual voices through a foundation of healthy vocal technique so that they can sing with freedom and authenticity across all styles and genres of music. I am dedicated to providing everyone a safe and affirming space regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or physical abilities.

My students range from novice singers to professionals with diverse musical experiences and interests. I also work with injured singers in conjunction with their speech-language pathologist or ENT office.

I am not a proponent of any one pedagogical method but rather draw from my varied influences and experiences as a student and vocalist. The study of voice science and how it relates to singing is a passion of mine.  I firmly believe that learning never stops and am a proud member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing.

My students range in age from 10 to adult. Lessons can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes a week.  I recommend that children under the age of 14 start with 30 minutes.
